Exercises When Stuck in Traffic

Everyone knows we gain a lot of benefits from doing exercises from boosting our immune system, smoothing the flow of our circulatory systems and strengthening our muscular and skeletal system. Exercises also reduce our risks of illnesses and injuries. When our ankles and legs are well-exercised, we reduce the occurrence of sprains, cramps and other related injuries, thus, reducing our need to require medical attention or in the extreme case, a surgery.

Unfortunately, in this modern world of workaholics and rush hours, where will you fit your exercise time? Although frustrating as it can be, being stuck in an almost non-moving traffic will also give you opportunities to do even the simplest exercise while inside the automobile. Below are just few exercises that you can perform while stuck in a heavy traffic.

Ankle exercises. You can do these exercises whether you're sitting or lying inside your car. To do this, bring one of your toes down, pivoting on your ankle, as far as possible and feel your muscles stretching. Bring your toes up as much as possible, feeling your muscles contracting. Repeat as desired. Next, from the ankles, rotate your feet clockwise eight times then counter clockwise eight more times. Repeat all ankle exercises on the other foot.

Sit ups. Lower the back portion of seat horizontally. Lie on your back with your feet flat on floor. With arms crossed on chest, push your upper body upwards to a sitting position without moving your feet up. Push yourself down again. Repeat as desired.

Press ups. With the back portion of seat still down, lie on your back with your feet on the dashboard and push yourself up while feeling the strain on your abdomen. Push yourself back down and repeat as desired.

The sit ups and the press ups can also be done on the passengers' seat. All you have to do is lie on the back seat itself with your feet on any of the doors.
