Physiological Causes of Erectile Dysfunction

Certain men suffer from erectile dysfunction (ED), the inability to sustain an erection. Fortunately, almost all cases are temporary. However, ED should not be a cause of panic for men since they do not require surgery of any sort. Causes can be both psychological and physiological.

Psychologically-caused ED often results from the inability of the person's brain to associate with sexual thoughts while physiological ED often is often associated with a larger health condition. We will deal with physiological causes in this article only.

Alcohol intake can cause ED, and many college guys call people who are too drunk to stimulate their erection as "whiskey dick."

Drug abuse, especially the illegal ones, is known to also cause ED. Some prescription drugs can also cause ED, too.

Furthermore, smoking contributes to ED. There have been known cases in which erection inconvenience is corrected once men quit their smoking habits.

Stress, worries and anxieties are the major causes of temporary ED. It can be that your mind is not in the current intimate situation you are in and is preoccupied with work, financial matters, etc. On the contrary, maybe you are too into the situation and you worry too much about your ability to perform. In most cases, distracting and unnecessary emotions contributes to ED. You have to clear up your mind first.

To beat your ED, learn to relax either through meditation, proper breathing or through a massage. Also, always remember that living a healthy lifestyle especially through exercise and diet can generally reduce the occurrence of your ED.

If having an ED concerns you, seek the help of urologist. On extreme cases, the Medical Treatment Overseas Ltd., can offer complete clinical package for most procedures in urology and is willing to send a quote.
